MS Dhoni scripted a big record in Chennai Super Kings’ match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He surpassed Suresh Raina on the list of the leading run-scorers for the five-time champions in the history of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 30 runs off 16 balls, with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes in CSK’s second game in IPL 2025.
However, his knock was of no use, as the hosts lost the game by 50 runs. Chasing 197 runs, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team managed 146/8 in 20 overs.
Dhoni has scored 4699 runs for Chennai in the IPL and now occupies the number one spot. He dethroned Raina, who managed 4687 runs during his association with one of the best franchises. Faf du Plessis accumulated 2721 runs and is in third place.

Dhoni was retained as an uncapped player for INR 4 crore for the next three seasons. He was not in favour of getting retained for a big sum, and the Chennai-based franchise urged the BCCI to reintroduce a scrapped rule, and the apex body of Indian cricket accepted the request. As per the rule, if a player hasn’t played for India for five years or his retirement tenure is five or more years, he can be retained as an uncapped player.
