The stadium was packed in an IPL 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The stands in Chepauk were full of fans who came to see a glimpse of MS Dhoni, the adopted son of Chennai. He came out to bat for two balls and received a grand welcome. During the course of CSK bowling, the game gave fans a special moment in the form of Suryakumar Yadav’s stumping.
SKY tried to hit Noor Ahmad for a big shot by coming down the wicket, but he missed the ball completely, and Dhoni removed the bails in a flash of seconds.
Suryakumar didn’t even wait for the third umpire’s decision as he was aware of Dhoni’s class and skills. Former CSK player Ambati Rayudu opened up about the harsh reality of cricket. He spoke about Dhoni’s retirement and its impact on the franchise’s supporters.
“I am afraid of what will happen to CSK fans when MS Dhoni retires from IPL. The moment will be emotional for everyone. They are MS Dhoni’s fans first and then CSK supporters.
“He is still looking fit, and I have experienced the moments when fans prayed for my dismissal to see Mahi bhai in action during the IPL,” he said on Star Sports.
Chennai have signed MS Dhoni as an uncapped player for three seasons.
